The Victorian Period...

1. One major historical event during "The Victorian Period", was the reign of Queen Victoria. She was born May 24th, 1819, and died January 22nd 1901. Her reign lasted for 63 years.She was known as "The Grandmother of Europe".

Her predecessor was William IV. Queen Victoria was of German descent.

Also around this time developments in science became a big importance. People like the great philosopher Charles Darwin really flourished during this era. Contributing to the studies of the natural, and supernatural.

2.I feel that for the normal people, if you weren't important then you were slightly unaffected. Around this era with the readings of things of the paranormal, I think I would've just been scared, this is only if I were ill-advised.

Haunted... By Chuck Palahniuk

"Haunted" is a book written by Chuck Palahniuk. From where I am in the story it seems as if it's going to be a slow paced story. So far it's introducing me to a group of writers, which are the main characters within the story. It's about these writers, authors who were asked to come on a writing retreat for a few months. Hints within the text, kind of foreshadow that, that's not all that's in store, but I wouldn't know because I'm not that deep into the story yet.

SPEAK!... William Wordsworth

In "SPEAK!", William Wordsworth speaks of strong feelings of Nationalism. He almost seems disgusted that his audience isn't involving themselves with their nation. He questions their true feelings and asks "Is thy love a plant of such weak fibre that treacherous air of absence withers what was once so fair?" He wants to know if they've grown weak, and feeble. Wordsworth wants people to use their voice and speak up.

Wordsworth proves that this is a traditional Romance because of his expressed feelings for his country. Nationalism was strong around this time and his words would seem to be motivational for a nationalist.

Love's Secret... William Blake

The poem I read by William Blake was called "Love's Secret". It's obviously a romantic poem. He spoke of Love's secret, which I felt was not to be told. Blake went against himself, and decided to tell, "I told my love, I told her all my heart" By telling her, this the secret of love was out and tarnished.

This is a great example of a Romantic poem, because Blake shows that he was curious, and that he tried to trust his emotions. In this innocent struggle with his heart he lost his love.
